Carlos Rivera Cabanillas (1959, Puertollano) entered the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM) in 1987, initially destined at the Polytechnic School of Almaden. Through the years, he has transferred between different faculties. Among those, in 1989, he moved to the Laboratory of Soil Science and Mineralogy, located in the School of Agricultural Engineering of Ciudad Real, in 1993 to the Laboratory of Applied Mineralogy, inside in the CICAT (Center for Scientific Instrumentation, Analysis and Technology). Finally, in 2004, he moved to the newly created Instrumentation Service at IRICA (Instituto Regional de Investigaciones Científicas Aplicadas[AMRG1] ), where he currently performs his activity as head of said Service, Specialist Technician.
He began my studies of Chemical Sciences at the UNED while working at our university, the UCLM. He finished his undergraduate degree in 1998, and he is currently pursuing his doctorate in the Sustainable Chemistry program at UCLM.
During my professional activity, he has collaborated in teaching practices and doctoral courses in different areas of the UCLM. He has also taught the Instrumental Methods Course for the Characterization of Raw Materials and Materials.
He has also participated in 59 research projects from 1989 to the present, especially in collaboration with regional companies, which as Instrumentation Service, we have helped on the research and development part of their business activity.
He has published in two publications in indexed prestigious scientific journals:

As head of the IRICA Instrumentation Service, he supervised three technicians as assigned personnel and instrumental techniques (23 in total). All these techniques are offered to the university community and public organizations, and companies around the region and beyond. He is a proficient user of RX Diffraction, RX Fluorescence Spectrometry, Differential Thermal Analysis / Thermogravimetry, Physisorption and Porosity Analysis, and Granulometric Analysis through the Sedigraph method, Helium Pycnometry and Color Comparator Equipment.
His hobbies are artistic drawing and painting.
María del Carmen Carrión Nuñez de Arenas

M. Carmen Carrión Núñez de Arenas graduated in Chemistry at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in 1999. In 1998, before graduating, she participated in company training in Repsol, S. A. (Puertollano), in the department of Quality and Prevention in the Laboratory Services.
In 2000, she held an Erasmus Grant to work 3 months in Vienna (Austria) in the research group of Prof. Walter Weissensteiner, in the synthesis of aminoferrocenil derivatives.
When returning, she started her PhD studies participating in different research projects in the Coordination Chemistry Group in the UCLM. She worked in the synthesis, structural and dynamic characterization of bispyrazolyl derivatives, obtaining the Advanced Studies Certificate (Diploma de Estudios Avanzados, DEA) in 2002, and later she started to study the hydrogenation, both homogeneous and heterogeneous, of ketones, nitriles and other aromatic compounds. This research was held in the UCLM and the University of Málaga (UMA), where she worked under the supervision of Prof. Pedro Maireles. In July 2004 she succesfully defended her PhD viva titled “New bimetallic tiotolerant catalysts for hydrogenation of aromatic and nitrile compounds”, under the supervision of Prof. Félix Jalón and Dr. Blanca Manzano.
From 2005 to 2007 she held a postdoctoral fellowship from the MEC for working in the University of St. Andrews (Scotland, UK), in the research group of Prof. David Cole-Hamilton, studying the functionalization of phenol and other aromatic derivatives by bifunctional catalysis using phosphinite ligands.
In 2007 she came back to the UCLM with a postdoctoral Juan de la Cierva fellowship, and from 2010 to 2017 she held an INCRECYT contract associated to the IRICA institute. During this period, her research work was focussed on several subjects: (i) synthesis of new polydentate ligands for MOFs and their applications, (ii) photocatalytic production of hydrogen from water by using Ru and Ir photosensitizers, (iii) hydrogenation of ketones and imines in water, generation of hydrides and deuteration processes, and (iv) synthesis of transition metal complexes with cytotoxic activity and their interaction with G-quadruplex of DNA.
In January 2019 she started working in the Instrumentation Service of the IRICA with a MICCIN PTA contract as a Laboratory Technician and in March 2020 she joined the MSOC Nanochemistry group as a Specialist Technician, where she is in charge of several characterization techniques of the synthesized materials.

Mónica Aineto Goñi

Mónica Aineto Goñi, PhD in Chemical Sciences, has worked at the UCLM, in the Applied Mineralogy group, from 1999 to 2012. She has participated as a researcher in 19 projects with regional, national and European funding, as well as in projects funded by companies in Castilla La Mancha.
The projects in which she collaborates are related to the recycling and recovery of industrial waste and its application as a raw material for the manufacture of construction materials, carrying out such research at laboratory and industrial pilot plant scale. Within the scope of these projects, he has carried out analyses of rocks and minerals, soils, biomass, ceramic materials, glass, glass-ceramics, cement, aggregates, concrete, mining waste, slag and ash from coal and biomass combustion, and agricultural waste.
He has also collaborated in teaching tasks and laboratory practices in the subject of Industrial Rocks and Minerals.
Since 2018 she has been working at the IRICA Instrumentation Service where she carries out analyses using chemical analysis by XRF, mineralogical analysis by XRD, granulometry, Helium pycnometry, colour, DLS, nitrogen adsorption and thermal analysis: DSC, TGA and Heating Microscopy.
Eduardo Prado García-Consuegra

Eduardo Prado García-Consuegra finished his studies in Agricultural Engineering at the UCLM in 2002, the year in which he also completed his Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention, specialising in occupational safety, ergonomics, psychosociology and industrial hygiene and audits of prevention systems, carried out at the Fundación Ciencias de la Empresa in Ciudad Real.
He studied and completed his Master's Degree in Agronomic Engineering during the years 2017-2019. He started working as a Laboratory Officer at the UCLM at the end of 2002 and is currently a C1 Laboratory Technician in the Department of Applied Physics, where he has collaborated in several research projects and started training in 2005 in scanning electron microscopy.
He has participated in more than 20 articles as a collaborator and co-authored 5 of them. He is technical manager of the HRSEM of the IRICA instrumentation service.
